More Than Conquerors

Young Adult Male Mentoring Seminar

More Than Conquerors is a mentoring program for young adult men who who need support and guidance to navigate through the next phase of life. The Mentoring Seminar will include the following topics: Conquering Fears/Overcoming Negative Feelings, Skills/Interest Assessment, Goal Planning, Exploring Employment Options, Communication, Literacy, Living Independently, Finances/Budgeting, Self-Esteem, Relationships, The Male Role and Responsibilities, etc.

We will have an interest meeting on Sunday, August 7, 2016. During the interest meeting we will: 1) review the agenda for the two seminars scheduled for Sunday, August 21, 2016, and Sunday, August 28, 2016, 2) facilitate a structured discussion about the plight of the Male and the Roles and Responsibilities of A Male, and 3) process feelings regarding the current challenges you are facing.

The agenda for the two seminars include: Session #1-Feelings/Self-Esteem, Skills/Interest Inventory, Writing a Plan for Moving Forward, Independent Living; and, Session #2- Making the Rules Versus Breaking the Rules, Style and Culture Conflicts in the Workplace, and Relationships/Protecting Your Future.

We will ask the attendees if there are topics they need for us to address that are not included and what they want the follow-up to be in addition to connecting with positive adult male role models who are willing to mentor you. Mentoring can include being a person to vent to when angry, a person to help you process and develop new project ideas, a person to go with you to a place to enroll in a program (i.e Literacy Program, Center for Employment Training).
